NORMI Water Classes for Water Restoration Technicians

Water ClassesNORMI is an approved sponsore for the IICRC WRT graining, which allows BTS to provide this opportunity for dual certification and CEUs. This course is provided in cooperation with both organizations to provide the best basic water restoration training in the industry for technicians and those preparing to sit for state licensure.

Who Should Take This Class?

  • Anyone interested in knowing more about mold or water damage restoration.
  • Technicians and owners who want to become more successful by separating themselves from the competition
  • Any technician who wants to know more about equipment, how it works and what works best
  • Technicians who want more extensive hands-on training to understand which equipment actually works and which is "hype".
  • Professionals interested in learning more about drying techniques without the influence of manufacturers pushing equipment that does not work well in the "real world".

"NORMI is interested in expanding the knowledge of technicians who may have already been trained in the field of water restoration, as well as those who are new to the industry. The science of water damage and restoration is constantly changing and we want to make sure that those who are actually doing or supervising the work fully understand the newest equipment and techniques available to make their projects more profitable and the solutions more effective." D. Douglas Hoffman, Executive Director of NORMI

 Water Classes FAQ

1. How do these classes differ from the classes I've taken in the past?

This class is interactive, very hands-on and will discuss, in detail, the latest technologies on the market, some of which may ONLY be seen in this classroom.

2. Can I receive Continuing Education Credits for these classes?

Yes, in most cases, continuing education units are offered for several different organizations including IICRC, NORMI, NATE and many states. Please check with your onsite administrator about which credits may be covered.

3. Is there a proctored exam?

Yes, each class comes with a certification based on the successful passage of a proctored exam. Most often, those exams are given at the end of the class.

IICRC WRT & WRT-Pro Course Description

From the IICRC "The Water Restoration Technician course is designed to teach restoration personnel that perform remediation work, to give them a better concept of water damage, it's effects and techniques for drying of structures. This course will give residential and commercial maintenance personnel the background to understand the procedures necessary to deal with water losses, sewer backflows, and contamination such as mold. (3-day course; 19 hours, not including exam time, lunch and breaks.)"

WRT-Pro option is designed for those students who wish to add an additional two days of training to the WRT and receive, after taking the proctored examination, the NORMI™ Certificated Remediator designation. Those who register for the WRT may include this option at an additional cost. (The CMR proctored exam is a separate exam fee). For more details on this two day option, CLICK HERE.

 Training Team

Lead Trainer is Joe Dobbins

Owned a full service restoration company for 25 years before selling it to his son in law and daughter. He has been teaching for nearly 30 years and was the 2013 IICRC instructor of the year. (Obviously there was some time overlap between those two because he isn't 85.) He also spent two years as an adjuster for a major carrier.

 Proctored Examination

NORMI PROCTORED EXAMINATION

An approved proctored examination is offered to those students who wish to be certified. The proctored examination is administered by a NORMI administrator on site following the class and requires a passing grade of 70%. This examination is an open book exam allowing the student to bring the course student manual into the exam. The is a separate fee for the exam which may be paid on site or in advance.

 NORMI Certification/CEUs

Certification and CEUs (continuing education units) are offered by NORMI, the National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors, and are awarded to the student who has completed the course, passed the appropriate proctored examination and met, where required, any state requirements. (This varies with each state so please call NORMI for more information regarding any additional requirements). The certificate is an individual certification, not a company certification, and requires active NORMI membership status. To become an active member and take advantage of the NORMI benefits, please go to www.Join.NORMI.org In some cases, this course may qualify for CEUs for IICRC, State of Florida, NATE and other organizations.
